Story & Characters

In far future when the civilization was ruined by Armageddon, human race has been fighting against vampires. An international organization, the Chancery (Vatican) in Rome delegates expeditionary executors to protect people from vampires. An executor, Abel Nightroad, looks powerless, but he is actually a vampire who sucks other vampires’ blood. During the battle at the risk of the existences of human race and vampires, Abel met a girl, Ester. Since this encounter, her fate has changed a lot.

Yes. This is one of the biggest let downs in this anime, if not out of all anime. First, the story literally sqeezes tears of boredom out of you through half the series, then when they finally reveal the GOOD and REAL plot, the ending leaves you RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU BEGAN, therefore leaving the anime's essence wallowing in the dirt. And oh yeah, they introduce the story's antagonist 3 EPS BEFORE the ENDING. YEP. I seriously say that they cut out the first 10 eps, and attach new ones to the ending, because the current story has the plot cut off halfway. Total disappointment.
Well, the historical parody and vampire twist is something to look forward to.

Art

Animation:
In one word: Spectacular. Starting off with beautiful character designs, they incorporate computer technology, with breathtaking and wonderfully drawn settings, to emmerse the viewers into their world so alike and yet different from our world.

The animation is the main factor that got me through the series.

Character: the two best developed characters are Abel and Cardinal Sourza. THese two you can tell have a good relationship going back years. The emisaries from the Empire (aka Methusaleh or vampires) are also well developed and they bring a lot to the intrigue that eventually engulfs the Empire

I'll admit I'm partial to vampire stories. And this one was different. Most vampire animes are dark and mysterious. Trinity Blood (for the most part) wasn't. Oh sure, there's lots of blood and death. However, there's even more humor, compassion, and humanity. For the most part, it's pretty light for it's genre. They definitely left it open for another season, but they didn't exactly leave it hanging.

Sound

Music:
The opening and ending music was so compelling (along with the correlating animation); 'tis another factor of few that i looked forward to in the next episode. The anime's OST by Eguchi Takahito, is like no other of it's kind. Period. Listen to it.

I usually don't notice the (bg) sounds in the anime, but the whirrings and clankings of machines, the buzz of the crowd, all the subtle sounds in the anime just astounded me. Hail, to the new advancement of technology and anime.

The voice actors did a great job (though i did wonder if they were doing double roles). But I ESPECIALLY loved the voice of the Count of Memphis. (personal preference, of course...don't know why though)

I love the ending and the insert song in this anime.

Presentation

Value. Worth watching some of the other episodes multiple times, but the ending may well be worth watching once.

Enjoyment: Decent action, and a fairly complicated story make this one fun to watch multiple times. Abel'sw ability to switch from a highly proficient vampire hunter to a bungling idiot, is entertaining to watch, and makes this anime worth trying.

everything is excellent except the story/ending =(

i don't know what the storyboard ppl were thinking and i wished they explained somethings more clearly. if they did explain things, it would make the story a lot better

i feel excitement when watching this anime but the ending is bad but it's worth watching. i wish there is a second season because i really like this anime.

I agree that they should replace the first few episode of the anime... except the places where they show the Crusnik XD
    Yeah... Gonzo animation rocks!
U forgot to mention that the op is sung by Buck Tick...
Pretty good review but I think u should've given less on the art because the art gets.... sloppy as it goes to the end

Good review, but why give the plot an 8 when you've just condemmed it?

  3. sin-shenlong Jun 19, 2006

good review, i really believe they shuddve add 10 more episodes to give the series justice, because the antagonist is far too intereting to just let him be seen 3 eps before the ending. Plus it alluded to the fact that another series may be coming, from how it ended. I also think that they should have done more in the fight scenes at times but i do agree on the score, the story is very interesting and different, the art is superb, the music is great and the presentation is overwhelming god job

believe that it is an excellent series but I believe that has a serious problem since history goes too slow and the end debia to leave but the plot of the series clear

First off Wow! I'm baffled how you can talk about "squeezing out tears of boredom" and "total dissapointment" all the while throwing an 8 at story & characters. Verbage should probably match the score, just a thought. Might want to consider proofreading and bouncing your draft off of someone else before posting it out for all to read.

Exclente, es una animacion del carajo, aunque el final de la serie es un poco flojo

  7. Karisama Jul 20, 2006

Es muy buena, me gustó mucho la banda sonora, la animación y la trama, aunque el final no está muy claro.

Trinity blood was really nice and touching. However, i agree with vatican 92 that the art went a little onto the downside at the end. The cliff hanger at the end made me feel as though there was going to be a continuation be it as OVA or season 2. However, nothing has happened till noW? Anyway, good job on the review. I really loved the characters and soundtrack though.. =P

Trinity blood is one of good anime i've seen like you've said ... thanks for review ...

Trinity Blood does have good action and animation/art. The music is pretty good too. I would have to disagree with you about one thing: I don't really like the light-hearted version of Abel. It made a big seperation between action, and the conversations. They should should have made it either serious, like Wolfs Rain or Ghost in the Shell, or more towards the balanced, but slightly less sophisticated shows, like Bleach or Inuyasha. The only time Abel is okay in human form, is when he is depressed, when he is talking to someone of importance (Empress, cardinals, or Pope) or when he is mad.

I disagree with your view of point about the story, they spent chapters to show you the characters that compose AX, their relationships, the complex world where they live, and it's only at the end they reveal the true nature of Abel and the real enemy.

When truth is revealed, making more eps would only end with the romantic vision of this tale of vampires, and become a sci-fi series. That's another kind of story and would crash with the actual line.
Besides, Shunao Yoshida died and let his work unfinished, nobody knows how TB was going to end... Sincerely, I read some resumes about the following plot and it gave me headache. Best finishing the anime here.

I spent the whole series wondering why there were two moons in this world, why Abel knew so much about lost tecnologies, how he had met before the Vampire Empress, why he knew the secret door to the guetto!
And there many interesting characters that had been left apart: the Inquisitor Petro, Hugh and his lost sister, why Dandelion is imprisoned and where is his daughter, the relationship between Kampfer and Woodsworth is not told but they were student and teacher, why Havel looks like JesuCrist, hahahah!

  12. Glukogen Sep 29, 2011

mesaana666, I agree with you so much - there would be no such criticism the similarity to Hellsing, if revealed in TB better line up before Armagedon. Why was it necessary to change the plot and characters, personally I do not understand (generally where the Duo, Paula, Antonio, Monica, oh ..), more than half the stories behind the scenes.
While on the other hand, if I had not watched the anime, I would not have learned about the novels. So what you can be considered anime as great advertising with creativity Thores-san and Sunao-sama
And soundtrack is really great (from that time to nowadays Buck-Tick is my fav j-rock group)

sort of a slim review, but the point was gotten across, I rather liked this anime. at first time I didn't care for it much but it sort of seriously grew on my the second chance I had at watching it.
