Story & Characters
Love Hina sounds simple-a childhood promise is made to a girl and the promise is going to appear in a love scenario later on in life. The truth is that Love Hina is more of a Harem anime( one boy getting the attentions of all the girls) than a love, romance anime and it is pretty good as a harem anime. In term of ecchiness, it does great with breasts getting exposed at frequent occasions and panty shots but sadly unlike other harem this story is really more focused on a particular girl and thus the panty shot is really of one particular girl and that girl is off course Narusegawa, Naru for short. For a harem show, the story does not really much of an importance, it is the girls and ecchi that count and such is Love Hina story. The story does not give the excitement of guessing the right girl that will end up with the main character or the girls’ characteristics other than the stereotypical but it gives the ecchiness that exceeds shuffle and may for some viewers be over excessive.
So for those looking for a harem show that is ecchi and has big breasted girls, and doesn’t care about a over simplistic story line, you would enjoy this show. But for those who wants a more interesting story and characteristics not so stereotypical and still love Harem, see something like shuffle-that gives more background to the girls and a better story line-it is a hell of a ride with everyone guessing which girl he will end up with. And even for more detail about characters and girls not stereotypical in any way and a serious romance story, see To Heart and To Heart 2.
The characters are as followed:
Naru- the typical tough girl that will beat the main characters up on an
occasional basis.
Shinobu-the typical shy, clumsy girl
Motoke-she is to be honest not so typical - samurai girl
Kisune - the sly girl that is not in the love interest for keitaro
suu- the out going foreigner-saw her several time
And finally the lucky man keitaro- the sterotypical academical failure, who is good at art.

Art
The art is great - I mean the proportions of the body of the girls are great. The anime follows mostly the classical style that is the artwork does not change in style- to manga all that often. The pictures of the girls are great with each one distinctly different-it is hard to find a more sexy cast of anime girls. If only it has interesting music during the anime.

Sound
Lively op with wacky sound-
The ending song is a direct contrast in style. Overall for the harem show the op
song captures what it is about- funny. As for the seiyuu (voice actor), although
I don’t really know their names- the did
a pretty good job in capturing the mood and the characteristic of the
characters. That is only for the Japanese seiyuu though, I am not sure rather
there is English seiyuu.

Presentation
The humor is really not that good although that is only my opinion because after all some may find its style pretty funny. But for me, the constant breast touching and awkward situations- such as Naru putting on her panty hose (and getting touched by keitaro) may be interesting but after-9 hours of that and similar “funny†situations surely the effect would have worn off ages ago. Still the funniness top the funniness in To Heart and Da capo any day and really for those who is sexually minded (but can not watch Hentai),I suppose this is as close it gets and you Probably would find this anime a great watch.
But still it is an enjoyable watch the first time- after watching so many anime one gets pretty critical and I have seen Love Hina for many times- It is my first anime and unfamiliar to the several similar anime in this genre, I watched it with great joy and excitement but as a more experienced anime watcher, I am just not as appreciative of it.
My ranking for it in the genre is still going to be pretty high – because it fits into the concepts of Harem exactly as it should be-lighthearted and girls.
Shuffle-9
Love Hina –8
Da capo-5
To Heart (It is more of a romance)-3

Mm... I don't think the art is particuarly all that good. Its not bad, but I wouldn't give it a 10.
This is an OK review however I think you focus to much on what's there and what you want there. What you should do in a review more is look at what's there and what was suppose to be there, in other words try not to throw your opinion in to much for the scoring. Also remember to reflect on the times, love hina is fairly old these days and it's easy to say it's like so many others, although i don't think it was at the time.
Yeah I agree with crsg and littlejonny100. Love Hina was aired quite a while ago and at that time there weren't so many harem-anime. IMHO it's still one of my favourite harem-anime simply because the humour is great and it doesn't get too serious (other than the obvious development of the relationship between Naru and Keitaro). Character and story-wise, I think it was pretty original for its time. You might say it's very cliche but as far as I know the manga (which the anime is based on) was one of the "first" harem type stories.
agree with all
but remember
Naru > all
I also agree with the others... Love Hina was basically the first manga/anime I've ever read and watched... Though I didnt like the anime that much becuase I think it was too short and the storyline wasnt that great in the anime... especially Love Hina Again. So I would probably agree with the review... I'd probably give it a 7 or an 8 because it was good during that time... but for the manga I'd give it a 10 becuase it was so frikin great!
Thats a fairly acurate reveiw, give or take a few points from the score ^_^
hmm.. this is the first manga i ever read and i still like it.. i just liked the whole theme of the anime i guess.. i agree with Kidder how it's humour and not so focus on character relationship.. 5 on the story and characters? aww how harsh lol.. i thought it would be at least 7 hmm..
Hmmm...first anime and manga I ever saw too...and I will never forget it. I like the manga much more, but anime is good too, it reflects manga very well. Ok, its a harem anime, but its different to those because of what you said: Its focused on Naru (but there are some affairs with the other girls too, of course), and as littlejonny100 and kidder say, Love Hina was one of the first harem manga sold...anyway its a good review
(if
I tried to make a review of Love Hina the only thing I would say is "I LOVE
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT" :P)
Sorry but not even a good review can save this one from my total rejection =_= I'm just so tired of the ner-surrounded-by-a-billion-tits-formula =_= it doesn't matter how crazy or fluffy or cute one wants to make it, the base equation will always be the same, plus all teh girls are stereotypied so, what's there to like? this is just me, tough.
the anime was a bit disappointing. but the manga is good enough. though i think there are too many hotsprings scene there is one at least every episode/chapter
I did manage to watch every episode of it, including the 3part OAV.
It was pretty fair I guess...
(I still pity Keitaro being launched 100s of feet in to the sky)
even if this anime isn't your style or not, it's still funny and good!
The anime was funny at first but then the story just seemed to drone on.
I WOULD ITS THE STORY THAT CAPTURED MY ATTENTION ITS ACTUALLY QUIET... well i liked it i am on the 26 episode i am begining to feel kind of sad becouse its almost over. Thanks for the people that made the series i really enjoyed it
