Story & Characters
I didn't know at first that this Anime was based on an H-game, but it makes a lot of sense to me now, as to why the series started so plain and laid out. However, after being receptive for the first 2 episodes, you find yourself caught up in this Anime's ever twisting and unfolding plot.
The story is based on four friends in their third year at Senior High, Narumi Takayuki, Taira Shinji, Suzumiya Haruka and Hayase Mitsuki. They had originally become friends because Haruka had a secret crush on Takayuki, but was too shy to ask him out. Mitsuki and Shinji eventually got Haruka and Takayuki to go out with each other, however Mitsuki started developing feelings for Takayuki as well. Over time, Haruka and Takayuki became very close, but it all ended when Haruka was hit by a car whilst waiting for Takayuki on a date.
Naturally, Takayuki fell into a depressed state which drived him all the way to the edge of his sanity. Mitsuki, unable to bear seeing Takayuki this way, confesses her love for Takayuki and helps him through his depression phase and eventually nurses him back to good health. This had all happened in the space of 3 years, until Haruka had finally awakened from her comatose state (no! she didn't die!).
Akane, Haruka's little sister, contacts Takayuki some 3 months prior to her onee-chan's awakening. And that's when the story goes into full swing. Who does Takayuki really love? Haruka, the girl he used to know from 3 years ago or his loving and caring girlfriend, Mitsuki?
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (The Eternity You Wish For) is as entertaining as it is moving. This anime really plays with your mind and has you on the edge of your seat through 13 episodes all the way to the end (episode 14), where everything is finally concluded in a rather sensible manner.

Art
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, presented by Oni-Giri, features some of the best in Anime artwork today. The female character designs are just divine, which is typical of a title based on an H-game, but still...it's sweet! The whole reason I started watching this Anime in the first place was its Art Quality! Another thing I realized whilst watching the show, is that the characters are portrayed in a very skillful way by the scenario writers. Any hardcore anime fan will find the characters familiar and coherent to the genre, however KGNE's characters have an unmatched originality about them. The way these characters are portrayed is very straight-forward and 'down to Earth', and the way each scene is constructed and order of presentation really lets you feel what the character is feeling. Also, I love the way the characters actually matured over time, it helped to add some more realism to the entire concept - Akane looks really gorgeous after 3 years!
I like all the characters presented in this series, especially Mitsuki (my personal favourite), due to the way the writers cause everyone to despise her at first but she ends up being the biggest victim of them all. Haruka gets the good points for her artistic and wise character, she truly becomes unforgettable in the end when she interprets the Mayauru's Present story. Takayuki, well I just respect the way he places the needs of others above his own and finally admits to all the wrongs he's committed.
The environments are also very neat and well laid out in your rather typical quiet, small town design. This Anime also has a way of making their scenery memorable, for example: the tree hill overlooking the town, which somehow makes a nice, romantic spot.

Sound
I find the Opening Theme to be very catchy. I suits the plot of the series nicely. The ending theme, well that leaves you with a warm feeling inside afterwards. The background music tends to be a bit lacking, so too are the sound effects but at least it suits the mood of the scenes and gives the Anime a sort of soap opera feel to it.
As for the voice-acting that was superbly done. It actually enhanced the personas of the characters themselves, in a way.

Presentation
As most of you would notice by now, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is intended for mature viewers (15+) since it's basically one big love story with soap-opera storyline. Ironically, there is no hentai in the series but instead there's a slight touch of ecchi incorporated into some tastefully done love scenes (hehe - lots of tongue action!) The story is very gripping, and will stir you emotionally. The characters come to life as you get "eye-views" and "flashbacks" which have been put together so strategically and skillfully, it deserves a round of applause!
Overall, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien will leave a lasting impression upon its conclusion.

This is DEFINATELY one of the best animes ever created, I mean up with NGE, THAT good! If you have not seen it don't waste annother second, get it NOW! I am a bit suprised and the 8 for story though, I think it was the best part of the show and should have gotten a 10 IMO. Most probably THE best anime drama, you will find yourself very emotionaly connected to all the characters.
It is the Best Romance - Drama anime I have ever seen! Your review is very good but I think you should put on stories and characters 9 rate! 8 is too low!
I personaly rate it 9.75 or 10 ! ! !
Also very good presentation . . . ! Nice review!
I watched this anime on a whim and almost wrote it off as a cliche' high school romance show after the first few episodes. Boy how wrong I was. This show is truly engrossing and honestly it is hard to watch with how much it plays with the viewer's emotions. This 14 episode phenom shows that you don't need much time to leave a lasting impression. Good review for a great show.
Wow... another undeserved high score for a craptastic anime like KGNE.
I've seen my share of soaps and KGNE pales so much in comparison to them that it's actually unfair to put them side by side. It's a generic, melodramatic and poorly written piece of crap show which tries too hard to "play with your emotions" that it throws actual depth and common sense out the window. And it STILL failed to reach me emotionally in any way. I can list a bunch of ways of how much this show sucked, but hey, to each their own.
This is one of the most sad anime i ever seen. I think this anime aint for kids though. Because kids wont understand this kind of anime
. Even
though i feel bad for Haruka losing her boyfriend to her best friend. xD
