Full Moon wo Sagashite tv Review

Twelve-year-old Kouyama Mitsuki was devastated when she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor of the throat. She had made a promise to the boy she loves that she would one day become a singer, but her illness made singing impossible. To make matters even worse, two angels of death, Takuto and Meroko, appeared to Mitsuki and informed her that she only had one year left to live! This news provides an even greater motivation for Mitsuki to fulfill her dreams, and with a little bit of divine intervention, she begins her quest to become a professional singer so she can be reunited with Eichi before time runs out.

Story & Characters

Full Moon wo Sagashite is one of the few anime that I actually enjoy watching that's not either full of action, or adventurous scenes. The story is based on 12-year old, Kouyama Mitsuki, who loves the sing and hopes to become a singer one day. However, the tumor in her throat may be the cost of her voice, even her life...

There are, of course, many happy moments in this anime as well. ^-^ Parts such as the first appearance of the two "Shinigami" that are here to take Mitsuki's life after her time is up. And many other sweet moments you would share with the leading role, Mitsuki.

"Say.. isn't Mitsuki only 12 years old? And she got throat cancer... how does she become a singer anyways o_O...?"
Well here's the answer! Mitsuki is one of only ones that could see Shinigami, and with the help of the Neko Shinigami (Also known as Kira Takuto ^-^), she turns into a 16-year old girl everytime she needs to go audition... record for her singles/albums... and everything that relates to her 16-year old singer identity, Full Moon.

Of course, there are many conflicts in the story (including love problems =P) but that's definitly for you to find out on your on ^^' I'm pretty sure you don't want me to spoil it for ya xD

Be sure to watch this anime! 'cuz it's one of my favs so far :D

Art

The animations of Full Moon wo Sagashite are really cute. ^-^ However, they're not as great as the anime that were released at the same time as Full Moon.

You may not find them to be very detailed, and the artwork isn't really full of originality either. The character designs are quite plain, and you wouldn't really be much surprised about them 0_0. But nonetheless, you would still love them if you're a fan of cute, and nice animations ^.^

So for this anime, I would rate it 8, just for the kawaiiness and the not-so-bad quality animations ^^/

Sound

Since this show is mostly about music and singing, the quality of the soundtrack would of course, be at its best quality. :D Each song resembles different parts of the anime. Parts where Mitsuki began her new singing career, when she was in search of her loved one, and her feelings towards everything that has happend to her.

Every song you listen to would give you different feelings. Such as "New Future", that would tend to give you lotsa hope when you listen to it, and "Eternal Snow", that would make you wanna cry because of the way Mitsuki's seiyuu (the lead vocalist of a J-POP music group, Changin' My Life, or Myco) sings the solo piece.

Overall, Full Moon songs are one of my favourites and I just have to listen to them every day, or else I'd feel like I haven't done something that day V_V So get the soundtracks if you can :D

Presentation

Originality... this anime's full of it! ^o^ Normally, you think that 'musical' anime would just be a about a person wanting to become a singer, he/she seeks a rival.. Oh no! I think I wanna quit my music career! Then they finds encouragement... becomes a great singer... the end. -_-' Well in Full Moon wo Sagashite, it may have some of those concepts, but there are definitely much more than just seeking a rival and wanting to quite ^__^~ You'll understand what I mean after you watch the show :)

The humor of this anime may not make you laugh like crazy, however they could be memorable moments that would make you go 'Awww... ^^' It's an anime that's full of drama, but it could be really sweet at times =)

Overall, I really enjoyed watching this series! What more would you want from this if it's about singing =) The singing performances are really nice to watch. And you could even sing with Mitsuki if you watch fansubs :D So remember to watch this series if you haven't already done so ^_______^!!!

Nice review... even if I'm not that enthousiastic. Too many filler eps especially compared to the manga which I like better. But CHangin' my Life's music is really great and I like too one of the bgm... the sad one when Mitsuki discovered something. And the end was pretty good too.

very nice review, I can remember watching this a few years back, it wasn't in my top favs anywhere, but I did enjoy watching it and someday will venture into watching it again. you did well not to break out many spoilers and still kept the reader interested in wanting to watch it, heck if I've never seen it, I know I would want to after reading this.
